Washed up body unable to be identified

The body of a man has been found on the side of a river in Sydney’s west and has so far been unable to be identified.

Police are appealing for public help in identifying the man whose body was found by a fisherman on the western side of Duck River at Clyde on Wednesday afternoon.

About 1pm on Wednesday a member of the public who had been fishing from a boat located the man’s body on the western side of Duck River, adjacent to the old oil refinery.


Initial investigations have been unable to identify the man who is described as being in his mid 30s with a dark complexion.

He was wearing dark coloured shorts with ‘addidas’ in red written along the left leg and a dark coloured t-shirt with ‘Everlast’ in white written across the chest.

The man had several tattoo’s including ‘J.D’ on his right hand, a tribal tattoo on his left arm and possibly the letters ‘BAZ….SHEAF’ in an old English font on the left side of his chest.

Investigators have not been able to determine how the man died however a post mortem examination will be conducted.
