An all-female running group on the Gold Coast is proving age is just number after qualifying to compete in a renowned competition overseas.
The group of women in their 50s, who are also known as the Gold Coast Trail Tribe, are heading to Europe to compete in the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc on August 29.
The gruelling 56km race starts in Switzerland and finishes in France, with the ladies set to tackle very mountainous terrain.

“We are shocked that we are even able to participate in this. It’s a huge race and we had to qualify in other races around Australia and New Zealand to get enough points to compete,” Runner Sonia told myGC.
“We have been running for a few years now and have done a lot of events. Being in our 50s, apart from the physicality of us getting fitter and thinner, it has given us all confidence to do things that we never thought we could.”
