Golf lovers enjoyed a rare spectacle at the beach this morning, with one of the Australian PGA Championship stars attempting to hit the longest drive over two Gold Coast beaches.
American professional golfer Cameron Champ, who is renowned for being one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, launched balls over the creek from Currumbin beach to Palm Beach.
“I am definitely known for my distance, its a big strength of my game, and I’m definitely going to need it all to get the ball across,” he told myGC.

Champ was able to achieve the feat despite an unsure, sandy footing, hitting the ball 310 yards across Currumbin Alley onto Palm Beach.
Champ told myGC he was excited to play at the Australian PGA Championship, which tees off at RACV Royal Pines Resort on Thursday.
“From what I can tell from the course, it looks good. I’ve been playing well, so I am really looking forward to it,” he said.
