WATCH: Coolangatta locals launch their own advertising campaign ‘Essentially Cooly’

Coolangatta is open for business.

That’s the message southern Gold Coast business owners and local residents want the rest of Queensland to know.

In a bid to encourage people to visit the border suburb and spend up, the Coolangatta community have banded together and launched their own advertising campaign.


The video, titled ‘Essentially Cooly’, features surfing greats like Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning alongside a number of Coolangatta locals.

“Coolangatta is open and your support is essential,” Joel Parkinson says in the 56-second clip, which was shared on Monday.

“It’s been tough times. The small businesses around here need your support,” surfer Dean Morrison says in the video.

Simon “Shagga” Saffigna from Shaggadelic Productions told myGC the promotional video was created “for the love of Cooly the place and the people that have shaped who we are today. It’s the best place in the world, God’s Country.”
