WATCH | F1 driver walks away from ‘heart-stopping’ fireball crash
A major ‘heart-stopping’ accident has marred the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix this morning.
Roman Grosjean slammed into a barrier during Lap 1, while travelling at around 230 kilometres an hour.
His car split in half on impact before igniting into a massive fireball.
Miraculously, Grosjean was able to get out of the wreckage and walk away from the blaze, as officials rushed to his aid.
Footage is already swirling through social media, with everyone shocked that the driver was able to make it out alive.

Grosjean has since been taken to hospital for burns and suspected broken burns.
The crash caused a 90 minute delay before another incident occurred on the restart.
Lewis Hamilton eventually won the race, with Aussie Daniel Ricciardo coming 7th.
