The Gold Coast Eisteddfod is celebrating a huge milestone this year – it’s 40th birthday!
The event is the largest of its kind in Australia, with thousands of young performers taking part each year.
Entries for this year are now open, with General Manager Nicci Wilson telling myGC they are expecting a huge turnout in 2022.

“We are so hoping we will get as many people on stage as possible,” she said.
“We have heaps of kids come across the stage each year – about 35,000 last year but that was a down year. We are hoping for more [this year], up to about 66,000 like we have had before.”
Ms Wilson said there are 450 sections at this year’s Eisteddfod, but that could grow if entries are high.
“We’ve got lots of different genres. We’re starting on a very special day with young people with a disability on July 28 and then we go in to dance solos, vocal solos, piano, strings, wind and brass, bands, choirs, dance groups, school groups – lots on offer!”
Entries for the 2022 Gold Coast Eisteddfod are now open and will close on May 6 at midnight. To enter and to find out more information, visit: www.goldcoasteisteddfod.com.au
