WATCH: Heartbreaking moment Gold Coast home is swept away by floodwaters
The moment a family’s Gold Coast home was swept away by raging floodwaters has been captured on film.
The heartbreaking video, which is being shared on social media, shows the Luscombe house floating down the flooded Albert river, knocking over anything that gets in its way – including fully grown trees.
It’s a clear demonstration of the irresistible power of the surging floodwaters.
ABC reports that just minutes before the house was swept away, SES crews rescued a mother and two children from its roof.
The dramatic rescue operation occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, following the severe weather event brought on by ex-tropical Cyclone Debbie.
A major cleanup operation is now underway across the southeast.
