WATCH: Hundreds of students try a trade at TAFE Queensland in Ashmore
Over 750 school students were able to try a trade today at the TAFE Queensland Ashmore Campus Open Day.
Students in Year 9 to 12 were able to see first-hand what is involved with studying a variety of vocational courses, including plumbing, electrical, hairdressing and more.
Director of Trades Liane Maneckshana told myGC over 15 trades were showcased as part of the Open Day.
“It is a great interactive opportunity for them to try a trade, and really understand what is going to be best for them once they finish school,” she said.
Nerang State High School student Bradley told myGC he can’t wait to study a trade.
“I am looking at getting into construction or engineering, so I have been checking out all those stalls today. It has been very interesting and it is cool to get that hands-on experience,” he said.
