The Gold Coast’s elite and prominent up-and-coming athletes will be recognised at the 2018 Gold Coast Sports Star Awards next February.
Mayor Tom Tate joined local sporting dignitaries to launch the 2018 awards at a special ceremony at the City of Gold Coast Council Chambers today.
Chairman of Sports Gold Coast Geoffrey Smith told myGC next year marks 50 years of the annual awards.

“The awards are a great way to bring the sporting community together, from grassroots clubs through to elite athletes,” he said.
Mr Smith said volunteers will also be recognised at the awards.
“We’ve introduced a junior volunteer award this year, and the Daphne Pirie Community Spirit Award will recognise someone who works behind the scenes that doesn’t usually get the honour and the glory.”
