A man from New South Wales has copped a hefty fine and has been barred from Queensland after trying to cross the border in the boot of a car.
Police manning a checkpoint at Wallangarra in the Southern Downs stopped a white hatchback on Sunday night.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle finding the man hidden under a number of items in the boot.

Even Police couldn’t help but laugh at his attempt to sneak into the state.
The 41-year-old man did not have a Border Declaration Pass and was fined $4003.
He was also refused entry into Queensland along with two women who were in the car as well.
Queensland Police have now fined 16 people for failing to comply with the border direction.
