WATCH: Man charged over violent carpark assault, Logan

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged over a violent carpark assault in Logan last month.

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima raided a home in Tamborine yesterday, following investigations over the incident on November 7.

Police have provided video footage of the alleged attack, which took place in front of a chemist on Waldron Street, Yarrabilba, around 2.00pm.

The man is seen stepping out of a blue Mercedes Benz C200, before allegedly taking a red baseball bat from the backseat of the vehicle and smashing a grey 2009 Holden Cruze.

Footage then shows an altercation take place through the driver’s window of the vehicle, before the alleged attacker and an accompanying female leave the scene.

The driver of the Holden Cruze, a 72-year-old man, suffered facial lacerations as a result of the shattered glass.

Police have further alleged that the incident arose from an earlier verbal altercation between the victim and a female passenger of the Mercedes.

The 20-year-old man was found and arrested in a raid in Tamborine yesterday, with police also seizing drugs and property.

He’s since been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, entering a vehicle with intent, wilful damage, possessing property suspected as proceeds and four counts of possessing drugs. He’s due to front court in Beenleigh today.

Investigations are continuing, with police appealing for anyone who was at the shopping centre carpark on Waldron Street between 1 – 2pm who witnessed the events or has recordings to come forward.
