WATCH: OrderLocally app giving GC restaurants a boost during COVID-19 crisis

The coronavirus crisis has proved a challenging time for restaurants and cafes on the Gold Coast.

Seeing the impact many of his hospitality clients were facing, Gold Coaster Brad Legassick decided to create an app to connect popular eateries with locals.

He developed OrderLocally, an innovative online ordering and selling platform that enables shoppers to safely purchase locally sourced food, products and services, all from the comfort of their own homes.

Brad told myGC OrderLocally was designed to have a point of difference to other apps already on the market.

“There are a lot of apps out there. Our differentiation is our commitment to the venues,” he said.

“We are connected to them by being local people, we also charge a really reasonable commission and it is free for customers to use.

“The initiative is to support local, and we are really trying very hard to drive that message home and that we are part of the solution.”

James Carney, director of Gemelli Italian, said the app has really helped to keep business going during a tough time.

“It’s been doing well for us,” he said.

“Deliveries weren’t a thing we were doing beforehand, and now we are doing it through OrderLocally. It’s an awesome app and it’s very user friendly.”
