More than 800 local children with a disability competed at the Gold Coast Cabs Annual Athletics Championships today at the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre.
The carnival is the only one on the Gold Coast that is specifically for children with a disability, and allows them the opportunity to participate at a competitive level.
Students took part in more than 400 events across the day, as well as a colourful parade complete with costumes, music and a torch ceremony.

Gold Coast Cabs Executive General Manager Benjamin Lee told myGC the best thing about the carnival is seeing all the kids having fun.
“Gold Coast Cabs has been a proud sponsor of this ever for over three decades,” he said.
“It’s so heartwarming to see the kids getting amongst it, having fun and enjoying themselves.”
Paralympian Susan Seipel was on hand to meet and greet some of the kids and told myGC she was thrilled to be at the event.
“I hope that I can inspire some of the kids today and perhaps see some of the next generation of paralympians coming through,” she said.
