While it has been eerily quiet at many hotels and resorts around the Gold Coast for the last few months, Paradise Resort has been buzzing with activity.
The hotel is currently in the midst of a full renovation, after its new owners brought forward planned works when coronavirus restrictions came into effect.
“We have had no guests here since the end of March, so we’ve taken the opportunity to start our renovations,” Alicia Szerszyn, Sales and Marketing Manager for Paradise Resort, told myGC.

The resort’s 300-plus staff have also kept their jobs, picking up paint brushes and tools to help out.
“Instead of standing any of our staff down, we have had them all employed doing different work throughout the property,” she said.
The hotel revamp includes an upgrade of the lobby area, food & beverage facilities, rooms, pool area and more, as well as the creation of a brand new adults-only section.
Ms Szerszyn told myGC the renovations are due to be completed by August.
“While the coronavirus has been a real global disaster, I think we have been able to turn it into a real positive. It’s given us the opportunity to get Paradise Resort back to where it should be, as Australia’s Best Family Resort.”

Paradise Resort also implemented a virtual activities program to stay connected with guests while the hotel has been closed.
Entertainment manager Vinnie Borges told myGC they have had great interaction with the guests.
“Everyone seems really happy to be in touch with us during this time, and finding out what is going on around the hotel,” he said.
