WATCH: Police hunt arsonist in skeleton mask over GC car fire

Police have released CCTV footage as they hunt for a person in a skeleton mask who deliberately set a car on fire in Southport last week.

A black Holden Barina with no registration plates was parked outside a driveway on Cook Close in Southport just before 10.30pm on Saturday, May 9.

The masked person got out of the car and is seen pouring accelerant inside the vehicle before igniting it.

The CCTV footage shows an explosion before the offender fled the scene.

Firefighters were called and extinguished the blaze a short time later but the car was completely destroyed.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage in and around Cook Close, Everest Drive and Edmund Rice Drive around that time.
