WATCH: Police hunting axe, crowbar wielding duo over Gold Coast supermarket break-ins

Police are hunting two men, including one with a “pronounced limp”, following two supermarket break-ins on the Gold Coast over the past few days.

Two people, armed with an axe and a crowbar, smashed their way into a Woolworths store on Manchester Road in Carrara just before 4.00am on Tuesday.

The pair attempted to smash open the cigarette cabinet behind the front counter, but when they failed to do so, fled on foot in a northbound direction.

Around 1.45am this morning, two people again forced their way into a Woolworths on Foxwell Road in Coomera by smashing the front glass doors with a crowbar and sledgehammer.

This time they managed to gain entry to the cigarette cabinet, stealing a “quantity” of tobacco products before taking off in a waiting motorvehicle.

Police have told myGC that they believe the two break-ins are linked and are appealing for anyone who recognises the men in the footage to come forward.

Judging by the CCTV, one of the men involved appears to walk with a pronounced limp.

Anyone with information is being urged to call police.
