Pokemon + Ryan Reynolds = match made in movie heaven?!

Get excited 90s kids, because Pokemon is back… this time in the form of a live-action movie starring Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Reynolds!

The Canadian actor plays the voice of the much-loved Pokemon character Pikachu in the new flick, titled Detective Pikachu.

Warner Brothers Pictures released the first trailer for the highly anticipated film overnight and as expected, people are already going crazy over it.

“I think we all knew I’d wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn’t think it would be this soon,” Reynolds posted on social media.

According to the trailer’s description, the “story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened.

“Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.

“Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery.”

Detective Pikachu is set to hit cinemas mid next year.
