WATCH: Sailability GC celebrates 20 years
For the past 20 years, a group of local volunteers have been brightening the lives of people with disabilities by teaching them how to sail at the Broadwater.
Sailability GC is a charity organisation that formed on the Gold Coast in 1999 to give those with disabilities the chance take part in a recreational sailing program.
Every week around 100 volunteers come together to take 70 participants out on the water in a variety of boats, from 2-man sailing boats right through yachts and a special pontoon boat.
Sailability GC president, Bob Ogle told myGC the activity was uplifting for participants.
“It’s so rewarding for us when we put a smile on people’s faces. They seem to love it,” he said.
