The beach at Coolangatta has been transformed into a Egyptian palace fit for camels and the best singers in the country!
The elaborate set has been constructed for Opera Australia’s production of Aida On The Beach, which opens to the public tonight.
The golden sands of Coolangatta is the perfect setting to experience this opera, with the story based in Egypt.

Aida tells the tale of a royal love triangle involving an Ethiopian princess named Aida who is enslaved in Egypt, a soldier called Radamès who has been chosen to lead the Egyptians in battle and Egyptian princess Amneris.
Performed in Italian, Aida stars some of Australia’s finest singers including Natalie Aroyan, Anna-Louise Cole, Michael Honeyman, Milijana Nikolic and Sian Pendry alongside the Opera Australia Community Choir.
Audiences can expect fireworks of the vocal and the pyrotechnic kind, colourful costumes and even appearances from local surf life savers!
