Southern Cross University student Ellen Gould is living her dream after scoring a gig with one of the Coast’s biggest tourism operators.
After completing an internship at Gold Coast Airport as part of her Bachelor of Business in International Tourism Management degree, Ellen was offered a fulltime job.
Ellen told myGC studying at Southern Cross University helped open up so many doors. “I have been able to expand my career a lot quicker thanks to the connections I made while studying,” she said “I found studying at SCU to be the best experience. I had that one-on-one time with my teachers and the small class sizes meant I had a better learning experience.”

SCU Dean of Business and Tourism Professor Elizabeth Roberts told myGC she was thrilled with Ellen’s success. “What a star student Ellen is. She is not only gifted academically, she is one of those young women who just takes advantage of everything that comes along.
“Here are Southern Cross University, we are very keen to prepare all of our students for a very competitive working environment. They have to be job ready. We have extremely close industry ties through our advisory boards and they tell us that they want graduates who have gained meaningful work prior to graduation.
“The real advantage of our work-integrated program is that it comes at the end of the qualification, so students will frequently stay on and get permanent employment after their internships.”
