WATCH: Superheroes fly into Broadbeach next week

Dust off the cape and pull on the cosplay because a celebration of everything supernatural and super-fun is coming to Broadbeach on April 21-23.

Superheros, science fiction and fantasy will be on show at The Gold Coast Superhero Weekend, with a ton of action packed events planned for the young and young at heart.

In addition to the hugely popular Supanova Pop Culture Expo and the Gold Coast Film Festival, there will also be a mass of free activities throughout the precinct including movies in the park, the Supanova Superhero Parade, Star Wars Interactive Zone, Meet and Greets and lots more.

CEO of Broadbeach Alliance, Jan McCormick said that everyone, no matter what their age will get a kick out of what’s being planned for the event. “Our celebration of pop culture keeps growing every year and we are particularly looking forward to rolling out what we think is our best schedule of activities yet. Whether your passion is in film and television, computer games, science fiction, comic books or fantasy there is something for you in Broadbeach during Gold Coast Superhero Weekend,” said Mrs McCormick.

Here are some events worth checking out at The Gold Coast Superhero Weekend:

  • Bring a blanket and the whole family to Victoria Park on Friday April 21 for a special screening of Disney Pixar’s classic, ‘The Incredibles’. The event will also include a jumping castle, face painting, balloon artistry and live music from 4pm.
  • Saturday April 22 will see comic book heroes and Jedi’s combine for an action packed day. The Oasis Shopping Centre will be the place to meet and get pictures with your favourite Marvel superheros from 10am. In a galaxy far far away Victoria Park will host a free Star Wars Immersive Zone from 3pm, including Jedi Training, Asteroid Field Obstacle Challenge and more. The day will finish in epic style with a special screening of animation, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ from 6pm.
  • Whether you’re a masked crusader, or perhaps from another planet, make sure you set the alarm to wake up early on Sunday morning for the must-see Supanova Superhero Parade. The incredible spectacle will literally stop traffic on April 23 from 9am, and bring together thousands of people for a celebration like no other.
  • This is also the perfect morning for families to head into Broadbeach to see ‘Supa-Star’ celebrities and characters from all genres. This year there is plenty to see, including the one and only Optimus Prime from Transformers, Marvel Avengers and many more.
