WATCH: Terrifying moment solar panels come flying off ute on busy motorway

Police have released vision showing the frightening moment two unsecured solar panels came flying off a ute on a busy Queensland motorway this morning, narrowly missing other vehicles.

The terrifying near-miss happened at Bracken Ridge, on Brisbane’s Gateaway Motorway, just before 11.00am.

In the dash-cam vision, a dark coloured Mitsubishi Triton towing a box trailer can be seen travelling south along the motorway before the panels come loose and fly off the vehicle.

Detectives are now appealing for the driver of the ute to come forward.

“It is possible the driver was unaware at the time their load had become detached,” police said in a statement.

Thankfully the motorist travelling behind the ute managed to escape serious injury.

However, police the incident has prompted police to issue a reminder to all drivers about the importance of securing loads.

“Police continue to warn all road users that unsecured loads can easily contribute towards a crash, injury or worse by striking another vehicle, motorcycle, cyclist or pedestrian,” Qld police said.

Another idiot tradie driving a ute with a load full of crap not tied down. That’s what a van is for, so your load is undercover. Or if you had common sense, get those solar panels delivered by a truck. Just another flog on the road with a ute so they can show off to their girlfriends/wives to take them out camping on the weekend to the beach with 35 inch off road mud tyres. Gotta have a laugh at those idiots!
