“Traditionally we’ve run the festival over two weekdays and just invited the local schools. This year it’s three days, and we are aiming for 10,000 people to visit the event,” he told myGC.
“We’re also moving the 2021 Festival to a new venue, relocating to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre to provide a more central location to make it easier to access the event.
“Last year we had to reinvent the Festival by creating a virtual event, but now that we have greater social mobility we’re really excited about bringing the Careers Festival back to the city.”
The 2021 Gold Coast Careers Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Queensland, bringing together the city’s major education institutions and biggest employers, along with a diverse collective of high school students, parents, career advisors, prospective students, career changers and job seekers.
Along with the city’s key employment areas of health, business, education and the creative industries, this year the Festival will have a strong focus on future career opportunities with inspirational talks and information sessions on artificial intelligence, the space industry, information technology, entrepreneurship and scientific research.
Attendees will also be able to book free sessions for career guidance and resume health checks.
“This year, more importantly than ever, it’s an opportunity for people to ask the question of themselves ‘What is next for me?’ and ‘Where does my pathway and career take me?’” Mr Slogrove told myGC.
Gold Coast business are also invited to secure an exhibitor booth at this year’s festival to meet and engage with prospective future students.
