WATCH: The Shake Up went digital to keep locals fit during lockdown

When social distancing put a stop to outdoor bootcamps, Gold Coaster Ben O’Connor quickly pivoted his fitness business The Shake Up online in order to stay connected with his members.

Within a matter of days he launched a brand new digital program, providing members with daily workout videos and a platform where they could come together to stay mentally and physically fit.

“When Covid-19 kicked in, effectively I had to stop my business. My objective from that point on was to take the members that we had and to move them online,” Ben told myGC.

“The response has been great. We’ve got 100 members with us online and I think I’ve trained more in the last 60 days, then I have in my entire life!”

With restrictions now starting to ease, Ben has resumed some of his outdoor bootcamp sessions, but said he plans to continue offering the online program.

“We have included our online membership as part of our group training, so we will continue to keep that running. ”
