THE TEASER trailer for the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise has been released, and fans are losing their minds.
With the tagline “Every generation has a legend”, the two minute clip begins with the sound of heavy breathing from female protagonist Rey (Daisy Ridley) before opening to show her preparing for battle in the middle of the desert.
A live-streamed panel discussion coincided with the release, revealing the official title as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

By midday Saturday, the YouTube video already had more than 4.6 million views.
While the 10,000-plus comments on Facebook were mostly positive with fans admitting they are “cautiously optimistic” for the JJ Abrams-directed final piece of the Star Wars puzzle.
Fans are also likely to shed a tear watching scenes involving Carrie Fisher, who died in December 2016, before filming began.
Abrams had previously confirmed that they had enough scenes of Fisher playing her iconic role of Princess Leia from The Force Awakens to include her in the final instalment.
