WATCH: Toddler friendly playground now open at Botanic Gardens

If you haven’t discovered the magic of the Gold Coast Botanic Gardens yet, this weekend is the time!

This Sunday, the Botanic Gardens are hosting an open day, with loads of free activities planned for the whole family.

Gold Coast parents with small children will also be able to make the most of the brand new toddler friendly playground, which  was officially opened by Mayor Tom Tate and 1029 Hot Tomato’s Emily Jade today.

Take a look at the brand new playground in the video below:

Emily Jade told myGC she spoke to the Mayor about installing a playground suitable for toddlers after her daughter Millie struggled with some of the equipment. “Tom listened to my argument and now we have a park for all ages,” she said.

Tom told myGC he was happy to follow up Emily Jade’s request. “There are a lot of young kids throughout our city, so we want to make our parks suitable for everybody.”

The Open Day kicks off at 10am this Sunday, with activities that include plant propagation workshops, displays, kids’ activities, guided walks and plant sales. The Kaialgumm Games Trail will also be launched on the day, demonstrating traditional games that were played by Indigenous children in many different parts of Australia. Entry is free.
