WATCH: Victorian man busted trying to get across QLD border

A Victorian man has copped a $4003 fine for trying to enter Queensland unlawfully by lying on his border declaration form.

The 27-year-old was attempting to enter the state through a rural checkpoint at Texas on Thursday afternoon.

The man had claimed he hadn’t been in Victoria in the last 14 days, but officers received advice from counterparts in Melbourne that he was lying.

It was also discovered he’d already been denied entry twice before.

The man was fined $4,003 for having untrue information on his border declaration and failing to comply with the Covid-19 Border Direction.

He was also refused entry for the third time.

Ten people have now been fined for lying on their border declaration forms since last Friday.
