Burleigh will come alive on the shortest day and longest night of the year as the Winter Solstice Festival returns to the precinct this Saturday from 4 – 9pm.
The festival will see the return of a free community celebration including live music, BMX and skateboard stunt demonstrations, activities for the kids including face painting and inflatables, fire performances, aerial acrobatics by Aerial Angels, lantern parades, market stalls and delicious on street local dining.
Burleigh restaurant, Mr Hizolas will be running a pop-up dumpling bar, while the team from Nightjar serve up delicious brews, featuring the seaside suburb’s own Black Hops beer.

In addition to the main event, kids can enjoy a free lantern making workshop at Stocklands Burleigh from 3 – 6pm on Thursday, and 10am – 1pm on Friday, which they can then bring along to the festival for the lantern parade on Saturday at 6pm.
Division 12 Councillor Pauline Young said she is thrilled to see the family favourite event return to the beachside suburb.
“This is a chance to get out and enjoy our Gold Coast winter and support these local businesses,” said Cr Pauline Young.
“The Winter Solstice is a time to celebrate, take a moment with family and friends and soak up the entertainment and atmosphere that Burleigh has to offer.”
Burleigh restaurants, bars and traders will be open on the night, offering specials in celebration of the Winter Solstice Festival.
