WATCH: Women threatened at gunpoint in terrifying Gold Coast carjacking

A manhunt is underway after two women were threatened at gunpoint by a hooded man in a terrifying carjacking on the Gold Coast this morning.

The women were getting into a 2020 Audi Q2 station wagon outside a property on Quayside Drive in Helensvale around 6am, when they were approached by the man.

Armed with a firearm, police say the man then pointed it at one of the women, before demanding the vehicle’s keys from the other.

He then took off in the luxury car, which was accompanied by a white Toyota Camry bearing false registration plates ‘948XFN’.

The vehicles were last seen driving towards River Links Boulevard East, with detectives appealing for anyone who may have information, dashcam or CCTV from the area to come forward.

The man was wearing a grey hoodie and track pants, black gloves and shoes, and a cap.

Investigations continue.
