Police have charged a man with a number of offences after he was allegedly located with a loaded firearm and a loaded pen gun in Surfers Paradise last night.
Around 9pm police observed two suspicious vehicles in Hanlan Street. The officers went to intercept the vehicles and one allegedly drove off at speed.
Police followed in the direction of the vehicle but lost sight of it.

They returned to the second vehicle and found it in an underground carpark off Hanon Street in Surfers Paradise. The officers observed a man walking away from the vehicle through the carpark with a bag.
He was stopped for a street check and when advised allegedly tried to run from police who managed to arrest him.
It is alleged police located a loaded .22 calibre rifle and a loaded .22 pen gun in the bag. Both weapons were homemade.
Police then attended a hotel where associates of the man were staying. The associates left their room and were detained by police.
A woman who was with the group attempted to climb over the balcony on the 11th floor but was detained by police.
An 18-year-old Nerang man has been charged with weapon, drug and obstruct police offences. He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
A 25-year-old Banora Point woman was charged with a high risk activity offence.
