Looks like the Margaret River Pro is destined for a Sunday finish after yet another lay day was called on Thursday.
Organisers called off competition for the fourth day in a row, with only offshore, 3-5 ft conditions on offer at Margret River’s Main Break.
“We know the wind is just around the corner and going to blow onshore quite hard, so we are calling the event off for today,” WSL deputy commissioner Renato Hickel said.

“We are going to reassess tomorrow. We have a big chance to run the women’s event tomorrow, and if not then, on Saturday.
“There is still a massive swell for Sunday, so we are most likely going to do the men’s quarter-finals then and finish the event.”
If the women’s event does get underway tomorrow, we’ll see reigning WSL champion Tyler Wright take on Sage Erickson for the first spot in the final.
There will be at least one Australian in the final, with Stephanie Gilmore up against Sally Fitzgibbons in the second semi-final.
In the men’s draw, Owen Wright and Jack Freestone are the only Australians left, and they’ll battle it out in the quarter-finals when competition resumes.
