What’s On: The best cultural events to check out on the Gold Coast today

Gold Coasters are being encouraged to the make the most of all the amazing cultural events happening across our city as part of the Commonwealth Games this week.

Each day, Festival 2018 and Bleach* Festival, along with a number of the city’s venues, are dishing up some incredible entertainment for locals and tourists to enjoy – and the best bit is, most of the events are FREE!

Troy Cassar-Daley performing live
What: Join country music superstar and all-round nice guy Troy Cassar-Daley as he performs a rollicking mix of old favourites and songs from his latest album, ‘Things I Carry Around’. He will be joined by support acts Emily Wurramara and Black Rabbit George.
When: Tuesday 10 April, 7pm – 10:30pm

Bleach* at NightQuarter
What: Enjoy the best of Fijian culture! Listen to traditional tunes from Fijian expats, check out the incredible contemporary dance experience Vou and be mesmerised by Fiji-born, Queensland-based rapper Jesswar.

Silent Disco
What: Slip on some headphones* and get ready to dance – silent disco style! Go crazy to all your fave tunes from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. Fun for all ages and ability.
When: Tuesday 10 – Wednesday 11 April, at 2pm-3pm and 4pm to 5pm.

Caribbean Celebration at The Star
What: The Celebration Lawn will come alive from 5pm featuring performances by Caribbean Arts Company and roots band – Bustamento – with their jazzy reggae tunes, plus DJ sets, games and prizes at The Arena. GC2018 Commonwealth Games events will also be broadcasted live on the big screen.

Live at the CBD Street Party
What: Enjoy a daily lineup of the best local live music acts, from roots to reggae, folk to funk, and everything in between.
