Chinese New Year Celebrations
One of the biggest events happening on the Gold Coast (and around the world) this weekend is Chinese New Year! There are a bunch of celebrations happening around the Gold Coast to welcome in the Year of the Wooden Horse. Here is our pick of where to go:

The Marine Village Sanctuary Cove
Enjoy a program of free family events suitable for all ages. There will be traditional Chinese entertainment with lion dancing and main performances held each day and evening.

Dragon Cove Chinese Cuisine will be the hive of festivities, with traditional celebrations and a special Chinese New Year menu, plus, Corker Cellars will be designing an Asian inspired menu and offering matching wines with free tastings between 4 pm – 7 pm each day.

Carrara Markets
Celebrate the Chinese New Year while picking up a bargain at the markets. Watch the spectacular Chinese Lion Dancers as they parade through the stalls and don’t forget to say Gung Hey Fat Choi … Happy New Year!

2 February – 11am to 1pm

Food and Wine Expo
With over 100 Exhibitors this year’s Food and Wine Expo will have all the ingredients to tantalize your taste buds. From Gourmet food to exquisite wines there will be something for everyone to indulge in at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sit back and enjoy learning from celebrity chefs or cruise the shows and discover the latest sensational ideas that will make your next dinner party one to be remembered. Tickets start at $20 per person, for one day.

31st January – 12 midday to 8pm
1st February – 10am to 6pm
2nd February – 10am – 5pm

Gold Coast PCYC after-school activities program
If you’re looking for something to keep the kids entertained when they finish school, why not enrol them to take part in the Broadbeach Waters PCYC, Ashmore PCYC,  or Nerang PCYC’s after-school program. Activities include gymnastics, kindergym, martial arts, junior boxing, and some funky dance classes and start from as little as just $5 per class. They also offer family-friendly boxing classes for parents and kids who want to workout together. Plus there are fully air-conditioned gyms at all three GC clubs, with an array of classes on offer, for adults to enjoy.
