Wheelchair users roll up to the beach at Burleigh Heads

Wheelchair users can roll onto the beach and into the surf at Burleigh Heads with the Council trialing special matting on the beach every Saturday morning this summer.

Mayor Tom Tate said on his Facebook page: “We’ve partnered with Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club to trial beach matting and beach wheelchairs at Burleigh Beach. The equipment will be available on Saturdays between 9am and 12pm, from today to the end of April 2017.

Tony Martin from Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park Surf Life Saving Club said there’s approximately 60 metres of matting – which is rolled out from the club house towards the surf.
