Where to get petrol for under $1 a litre on the Gold Coast

Gold Coast motorists will be able to get their hands on super cheap fuel today as part of an initiative between a local petrol station and a local child care centre.

Freedom St Clair’s at Southport and Little Hands Early Learning Centre have teamed up to offer fuel for just 99 cents a litre for Gold Coast drivers.

The special promotion will run between 10am and 11am today with huge queues expected.

Little Hands Centre Director Jordan Tohovaka says they wanted to give something back to the community with many families struggling to make ends meet.

“We know that living on the Gold Coast, the cost of living keeps on rising so we’re trying to do something to ease that a little bit,” Ms Tohovaka

Ms Tohovaka says they’ve had a great reaction to the idea.

“Our families have loved it, they think it’s great and a lot of them have said they’ll be taking full advantage of it and lining up.

“So hopefully people grab themselves a bargain and that helps them in some way.”

The 99 cent promotion will be limited to E10 and Unleaded 95 fuel.

Motorists will also be restricted to a maximum of 50 litres.

While today’s promotion is open to all Gold Coasters, parents with kids enrolled at Little Hands will be able to get cheap fuel once a month.

Ms Tohovaka hasn’t ruled out extending the initiative if today’s promotion proves a success.

“We’re always looking at doing what we can for the community and our families so if this is something we can keep on doing that would be great.”

Little Hands has been operating on the Gold Coast since 2011 while Freedom St Clair’s has been an independent family-run business for over 40 years.

This is a very generous initiative from both businesses but I think should be restricted to people with a Centrelink or pensioner concession card only. These people are doing it really tough.

If it’s being offered to everybody, why do you think it should be limited to a certain section of the population ? Sounds a little selfish. Lots of folk are struggling you know. Says a lot about the way you think.
