Where to get sandbags on the Gold Coast
Update at 8 September 2020: City of Gold Coast wish to advise that sandbags are only available through Council in response to severe events and sandbags are not currently available from City of Gold Coast.
Earlier at 13 February 2020: With heavy rainfall continuing to lash the Gold Coast, locals are being encouraged to stock up on sandbags in a bid to protect their homes and businesses from flooding.
The latest warning from the weather bureau warns of “intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding”.
As a result, City of Gold Coast has opened its three sandbagging stations this morning.
The stations can be found at the following locations:
Pimpama – 232 Old Pacific Highway
Bilinga – 46 Boyd Street
Burleigh Heads – 61 Hutchinson Street
A council spokesperson told myGC the sandbagging stations will remain open until 5.00pm.
Alternatively, Gold Coasters are also being advised that they can obtain sandbags from their local hardware store.
