The Gold Coast is preparing to ring in 2020 with thousands of people expected to flock to one of several fireworks displays across the city.
After much debate following recent fires, the majority of fireworks displays will go ahead tonight despite the local fire ban not ending until 11.59pm.
Council announced that due to recent rain it would allow the displays to go ahead.

Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach will see the biggest crowds of the night with revelers urged to get there early to secure the best vantage spots.
There will also be fireworks in Coolangatta, Coomera, Labrador, Paradise Point and Varsity Lakes.
There will be extra trams, trains, buses and ferries on New Year’s Eve and travel will be free!
It should remain dry for the countdown to midnight with a little bit of cloud and temps around 23 degrees.

Surfers Paradise Beach
Fireworks at 8pm and midnight with DJs and entertainment.
Kurrawa Park in front of Surf Life Saving Club
Fireworks at 8pm and midnight. Entertainment at Broadbeach Mall Stage from 8.30pm.
Marine Parade, Southport
Entertainment from 4.30pm with the Killer QUEEN experience, free kids zone, food trucks. Fireworks at 8.30pm.
Queen Elizabeth Park, Marine Parade
Fireworks at 9pm and midnight
Viney Park, Coomera
Entertainment from 5pm with live music, food, drinks, amusement rides. Fireworks at 9pm.
Harley Park, Labrador
Entertainment from 4.30pm with Steven the Piano Man and Velvet Underground, food stalls, face painting, free show bags. Fireworks at 8pm.
Brien Harris Oval, Cnr Peachey and Orange Mountain Roads, Ormeau
Event starts at 5pm with free carnival rides, face painting and live music. (Note – no fireworks)
Broadwater, Paradise Point Parklands, The Esplanade, Paradise Point
Event starts at 5pm with live music and entertainment, face painting. Fireworks at 9pm.
Varsity Promenade, Varsity Lakes
Event starts at 5.30pm with food trucks, kids entertainment, live bands. Fireworks at 8.30pm
