Wildlife Wednesday: Marty the Minor Bird

Imagine someone taking you to hospital, even though there was nothing wrong with you. That’s exactly what happened to Marty the noisy minor fledgling, who found himself at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital after being brought in by a concerned citizen.

“There is nothing wrong with this little guy. He has just been kidnapped,” Head Vet Michael Pyne told myGC. “This guy would have just jumped the nest. A lot of people find these baby birds on the ground and think there is something wrong with them.

“If a baby bird is bright, alert, begging for food – chances are there is nothing wrong with it. The parents will be close by and they are going to come down and feed it until it’s wings are strong enough to fly.”
