A huge number of waterbirds require rehabilitation at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital every single year.
According to Head Vet Michael Pyne, most of the birds that are brought to the hospital have been injured by fishing lines and hooks.
In the video below, Dr. Pyne takes myGC inside the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital to meet a pelican and two swans currently receiving treatment.

The pelican is recovering after swallowing a fishing a hook, while the swans were rejected by their parents in the wild.
