AIR CONDITIONERS will get a break this weekend as a chilly cold front drops temperatures well below the May average.
Although the sun will be shining over the Gold Coast, the mercury will struggle to climb above 20 degrees on Friday before dropping to an unseasonably low 7 degrees overnight.

Strong winds will increase the wind chill factor, making it feel a lot colder then the temperature shown on your thermometers.
A strong wind warning is in place, with westerly winds up to 40k/m forecast.
Temperatures will plummet as the sun sets, forecast to get down to just 7 degrees in Coomera and Nerang, 9 degrees in Surfers, and 10 in Coolangatta and Robina.
Similar conditions are forecast during and overnight on Sunday.
