Witnesses to Cavill Ave stabbing urged to come forward

LATEST UPDATE @ August 28 2017, 10am: If you were in Cavill Avenue on Sunday afternoon and witnessed the all-in brawl that resulted in a stabbing, Police want to talk to you.

They are also keen to get their hands on any videos taken at the time of the fight, around 3.30pm.

Surfers Paradise detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward as they continue investigations.

A large crowd was at the Surfers Paradise Beer Garden to watch the boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, when the scuffle broke out.

It’s alleged a 24-year-old Labrador man pulled out a knife and stabbed a man in the neck.

The 29-year-old victim was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital and has undergone surgery.

The 24-year-old was charged with grievous bodily harm, along with other offences, and is set to face Southport Court today.
