Witnesses wanted after Byron Bay robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a robbery at a service station near Byron Bay overnight.

It’s understood a man entered the Broken Head Road service station at Suffolk Park around around 9.30pm on Saturday.

Police allege ge told the 52-year-old male employee that he had a weapon and demanded he hand over money.

The man jumped the counter and struggled with the staffer, before taking cash from the register and running from the scene.

Police were called and a crime scene was established.

Police believe several people were in the immediate area at the time and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery to call Byron Bay Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
