A YOUNG woman has been airlifted to a hospital in Sydney with serious head, arm and internal injuries following a horror head-on crash in Central West NSW.
The accident happened on the Mitchell Highway at Lucknow, 10km southeast of Orange, on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the 19-year-old woman was driving a Nissan Pulsar west along the highway when she smashed head-on into a Honda CRV travelling in the opposite direction shortly after 3.45pm AEDT.

The young woman was flown to Westmead Hospital in Sydney with serious head, arm and internal injuries.
Her condition has since been listed as serious but stable after undergoing surgery overnight.
The 57-year-old woman behind the wheel of the CRV was taken to Orange Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and are now urging anyone with dash cam footage or information about the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
