Woman, 20, left fighting for life in hospital after being mowed down in horror hit-run

A WOMAN is fighting for her life in hospital after being mowed down by a vehicle in a horror hit-and-run as she crossed an intersection in Sydney’s west.

Police are still searching for the driver of the “small black truck” which struck the 20-year-old woman at the intersection of Woodville Road and Tangerine Street at Villawood around 9.35pm last night.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, which had a cage on the back, kept driving after hitting the woman.

The 20-year-old suffered serious head and leg injuries and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital where police say she remains today in a critical condition.

Investigations have revealed the young woman was crossing the intersection on a green pedestrian signal when she was struck.

Northbound lanes of Woodville Road were closed for several hours while the scene was examined.

Police are still trying to locate the driver and vehicle involved and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and contact police immediately.
