A WOMAN is fighting for life in hospital after she was allegedly stabbed with a knife and beaten with an axe while celebrating her husband’s 60th birthday at their home in Brisbane’s south west overnight.
Details remain sketchy, but here is what we know so far;
POLICE and paramedics were called to the Burrawang Street home at Redbank Plains just before 2am on Saturday after neighbours were reportedly woken by a man covered in blood banging on their front door.

Upon arriving at the address, officers found a 54-year-old woman unconscious in the lounge room of the Burrawang Street home with a knife in her chest.
It’s understood she also had an axe wound to the head.
A 60-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s husband, was found in the street with multiple lacerations and a head injury.
He allegedly ran to several neighbouring homes to try and seek help for his injuries which police say at this stage, appear to be defensive wounds.
Both were rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where they are expected to undergo surgery.
It’s understood the woman’s injuries are considered life-threatening, while the man’s are listed as serious.
At this stage, police say the circumstances which led to the pair’s injuries remain unclear.
Neighbours have told local reporters the attack followed a long day of partying at the address which wrapped up at around 10pm.
It’s understood the couple had been celebrating the man’s 60th birthday.
Parts of Waxberry Court and Burrawang Street have been roped off and declared a crime scene as forensic officers continue to comb the area for clues.
