Woman, 60, attacked with glass bottle by ex-partner who broke into her Sydney home

A 60-YEAR-OLD woman has survived a terrifying domestic attack after being stabbed multiple times in the chest and bashed with a glass bottle by her ex-partner who allegedly forced his way into her Sydney home overnight.

Police said the woman was attacked inside her Prince Street home at Picnic Point about 1am this morning after waking to find a man, believed to be her 64-year-old ex-partner, standing by her bed, allegedly armed with a glass bottle.

“The woman was allegedly struck twice in the head with the bottle before the man stabbed her twice in the chest,” police said in a statement.

The woman reportedly ran to a neighbour for help before being rushed to Liverpool Hospital.

Police swooped on the street and started searching for the 64-year-old man who was allegedly found a short time later, sitting in the injured woman’s car on nearby Carinya Road.

The dog squad was immediately deployed and the man was apprehended a short distance from the vehicle.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station however, after complaining of feeling unwell, was taken to Bankstown Hospital where he is currently under police guard.

The woman is reported to be in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries to her chest and head.

A crime scene has been established at the home and detectives are investigating.
