AN elderly woman has had a lucky escape after she was struck by lightning in Sydney’s north.
The 78-year-old woman was reportedly peeling potatoes in the kitchen of her Beacon Hill home when she was struck about 3.30pm (AEDT) on Monday.
Paramedics arrived at the Copper Close address to find the woman had been thrown across the room. Thankfully was unharmed.

It’s believed electricity may have travelled into the house through the kitchen sink after lightning hit a copper pipe.
It came as Sydney set a new record for the seventh consecutive day of thunderstorms.
