Woman, 79, charged with incitement to commit murder over woman’s death

A 79-YEAR-OLD woman has been charged with incitement to commit murder following an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found dumped at a lake in regional Victoria.

Karen Chetcuti, 49, was reported missing after failing to show up to work in her small rural town of Whorouly, near Wangaratta, on 12 January 2016. Her body was later found dumped at Lake Buffalo.

Homicide detectives on Wednesday arrested and charged a 50-year-old man with one count each of perverting the course of justice and incitement to commit murder.

Acting on new information, officers then searched an area of interest near Standish Street in Myrtleford.

Following the search, a 79-year-old woman was also charged with perverting the course of justice and incitement to commit murder.
