Woman accused of paying guard to smuggle sandwich presser into prison

A WOMAN has been arrested and charged after allegedly paying a prison guard to smuggle a sandwich presser into a NSW jail for her partner.

The 29-year-old male Correctional Officer at the Cessnock facility in the NSW Hunter region was arrested and charged over the incident in December last year.

Following further investigation, a 37-year-old woman was arrested at Windsor Police Station this morning.

She has since been charged with “corruptly give agent benefit”.

Police will allege in court that the woman paid a Correctives Services officer to supply a sandwich press to her partner, who is an inmate at the facility.

The woman was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday, March 8.
