Woman airlifted to safety after Wentworth Falls hike

A bushwalker is recovering in hospital with a broken leg after she was winched to safety from Wentworth Falls on Sunday afternoon.

The 21-year-old woman, from Kellyville Ridge, was on a walking track when she slipped and fractured her right leg about 1.40pm.

Police attached to the Blue Mountains Police Rescue Squad walked with Special Operations Team

Paramedics into the National Park to reach the woman.

She was stabilised before an NSW Ambulance doctor was winched in from Ambulance helicopter about 4.15pm.

She was airlifted to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
